GOT THE INVITE TO YOUR PARTY. OMG I'M SO EXCITED FOR LATER. IT'S GONNA BE SHAMAZING! WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?

I KNOW THERE'S A TONNE OF PEOPLE GOING. FIREWORKS AND EVERYTHING?! WELL, WHY NOT? YOU'RE WORTH IT!

IT'S GONNA BE A REALLY HECTIC NIGHT TONIGHT, AND WE MAY NOT GET TIME TO TALK PROPERLY SO I WANTED TO WRITE THIS NOTE TO THANK YOU FOR A FEW THINGS.

We may have gotten off to a rocky start - like that time at Union Square when I kneeled down to give my Christmas donation to the dog sanctuary and someone ran off with all the Christmas presents I’d just bought for my family in Ireland and you laughed in my face? Well that was maybe more New York than you. But still. Or the time you elected Donald Trump President. Actually, we still need to have a serious talk about that one… (And I could go on).

With everything you’ve thrown at me I could feel that you don’t like me very much. But as we know, hindsight is a wonderful thing and I’ve learned to understand that it’s simply been a case of tough love. You’ve been teaching me how to survive. To be more resilient. To grow a tougher skin. (I was hoping for one that will tan a bit better but my Irish ginger skin remains as allergic to the sun as it ever was. Factor 50 all the way.)

You’ve helped me to become more worldly-wise in so many ways.

To read people faster. Quickly spot the bullshitters. The disingenuits*. Those devoid of integrity.

To voice my opinion. To To trust my gut. To not be afraid.

To be more active in helping change the world.

To meet some of of the best people I’ve ever met. Who share my drive and ambition. Who live and celebrate the weird, wacky and wonderful every day. And creatively flourish.

With your help, I’ve become the truest version of myself and I’ve never been happier.

I just wanted to you know because maybe I’ve never said it out loud?
